The San Pedro Ranch has been privileged to host boys and girls from San Antonio Boysville for white-tailed deer hunts. For many, the experience is their first true experience in the outdoors. The hunts provide a tremendous opportunity for inner city youth to experience nature first hand. Educators in a variety of natural resource related fields demonstrate to the youth how the ranch holistically manages varied environmental components. Participants receive training in hunter safety before heading to the field. From giving wild game cooking lessons to leading vespers around the fire, many community leaders volunteer their time and resources to help make the hunts a success.
